Probably not open to students in Gaza: A Canadian study permit needs fingerprints and a photo taken outside Gaza, and Canada has not waived this: more than 130 Palestinians admitted to Canadian graduate programmes are stuck in Gaza. If you have left Gaza, this may not apply to you; check the official page.

How to apply

The application information below summarizes the captured scholarship source. Review the provider page before submitting.

  1. Select the funding agency whose subject-matter mandate best fits the proposed research, consulting the relevant agency guidance where needed. Required
  2. Review and follow the selected agency’s application instructions and platform process. CIHR applicants use ResearchNet; the program also identifies an NSERC online system and SSHRC registration and login system. Required
  3. For the CIHR route, ensure the applicant and supervisor(s) have or register for ResearchNet accounts and CIHR PINs; the applicant must also have or register for a Canadian Common CV account. Complete the Tri-Agency Self-Identification Questionnaire. Required
  4. For the CIHR route, complete and submit the Canadian Common CV, record its confirmation number, and enter that number in ResearchNet before submitting the application. Required
  5. Prepare and complete the selected agency’s application. For CIHR, complete the ResearchNet application tasks, including identifying participants and sponsors, entering proposal information, attaching application materials, previewing the application, and completing Consent and Submit. Required
  6. Arrange the required referees/references, institutional nominators, and other contributors for the chosen agency, and ensure their required supporting letters or submissions are provided through the appropriate online system before the deadline. Required
  7. For CIHR and SSHRC, if the proposed host institution has an internal endorsement or nomination deadline, submit by that institutional deadline, which may be earlier than the agency deadline. Required
  8. Submit the completed application electronically through the selected agency’s platform by its applicable deadline. For CIHR, the Consent and Submit task must be completed on ResearchNet; late applications are not accepted. Required
