How to apply

The application information below summarizes the captured scholarship source. Review the provider page before submitting.

  1. Determine which application route applies: Embassy Recommendation or University Recommendation. Required
  2. For the Embassy Recommendation route, complete the initial recruitment and screening by the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in your country. Required
  3. For graduate applicants on the Embassy Recommendation route who pass the embassy’s first screening and need a Letter of Acceptance from the University of Osaka, submit an application through the Admissions Assistance Desk (AAD) system. Required
  4. Upload the required AAD application documents in PDF format. Documents not in Japanese or English must include a translation into Japanese or English; additional documents may apply depending on the applicant’s circumstances. Required
  5. After receiving the AAD application result, complete any additional procedures required; these may include an interview and screening by the prospective supervisor. Required
  6. For undergraduate applicants using University Recommendation, first pass one of the eligible undergraduate programmes; the University of Osaka then selects MEXT student candidates. Required
