How to apply

The application information below summarizes the captured scholarship source. Review the provider page before submitting.

  1. Optionally join an online Q&A session to ask questions about the DAAD scholarship application. The listed dates are 07 July, 04 August, and 01 September, all at 14:00 CET; no year is stated for these dates. Optional
  2. Complete the DAAD Application Form, include its date of issue, and ensure its information matches the motivation letter, CV, and applications to other degree or scholarship programmes. Required
  3. Fill in the MEG application form rather than using the online application process, which is closed and will not be reactivated. Enter the names and contact details of the chosen referees on page 2. Required
  4. Prepare a dated letter of motivation following the MEG_DAAD guideline. If also applying to other DAAD-EPOS master's programmes, prepare the required second motivation letter explaining those programme choices and their priority order; provide the same letter to all programmes, indicate the choices on the DAAD form, and apply to no more than three programmes. Required
  5. Prepare a dated Europass CV in reverse chronological order, explaining gaps longer than three months; gather the required transcript(s), degree certificate, and work certificate(s) meeting the stated content and authentication requirements. Required
  6. Arrange two recommendation letters: one from the current employer and one from an academic teacher or supervisor. Ask referees to follow the referee guideline and send their letters directly to info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de before 15 October 2026; do not send the letters yourself. Required
  7. Prepare an accepted English-language certificate by 15 October 2026, subject to the stated exception for applicants who provide proof by that date of a test booked for a date on or before 15 October and submit the result by 31 October. Applicants who meet a stated exemption should provide the specified proof. Print and sign the DAAD checklist with a pen, then scan it; include an APS certificate if applying from China, India, or Vietnam. Required
  8. Merge all listed application documents into one single PDF and email it to info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de by 15 October 2026. The source says the online MEG application is closed and instructs applicants to use the form and email the PDF instead. Required
  9. If nominated for the shortlist, take part in the subsequent interview; scholarship-candidate selection is finalised only after the interview. Optional
Deadline
15 October 2026
Deadline notes
For English-test exceptions, registration proof for a test date on or before October 15 is required by October 15; test results may follow by October 31. The page also gives conflicting application-submission instructions: it says the MEG online process is closed and directs applicants to email documents, but later says to upload them in the MEG online application form.
Application cycle

Notes
The official page says the MEG online application process has been closed and will not be reactivated, instructing applicants to email the completed documents as one PDF. A later instruction on the same page says to upload documents in the MEG online application form. Selection is in two stages; shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.
