- Before applying, read the relevant 2026/2027 Call for Applications for your programme type and the Application Guide. Required
- Find an eligible study programme for your sending country/region. The available fields differ by partner country; select no more than two programme choices in the application. Required
- Contact your sending partner (such as the local Hungarian Embassy, ministry or council) to confirm its procedures, requirements and deadlines, and submit any application materials it requires. Partner requirements vary, and some partners require no additional materials. Required
- Register in the Stipendium Hungaricum online application system, upload the required documents and submit your application by the deadline. Required documents vary by study level and nationality; attach all required documents and complete all required fields. The FAQ notes that some missing documents may be uploaded later, and that language and school certificates may be submitted later in certain cases; consult the Call for details. Required
- The sending partner nominates applicants; only nominated applicants can proceed, and nominated applications are forwarded to the selected Hungarian higher education institutions. Required
- If applying for a doctoral programme, submit a statement of supervisor by the stated date if the proposed Doctoral School requires one. Required
- If nominated, take the entrance examination arranged by the Hungarian university. A score of at least 56 out of 100 is required for the application to be considered for the final list of scholarship awardees. Required

- Sending Partners may set different deadlines and requirements for their own submission process. Sending Partners nominate applicants by the end of February. Doctoral applicants who are required to provide a supervisor statement must submit it by 15 March 2026.
